Joseph Di Lello è un fotografo freelance nato a Colledimezzo, in Abruzzo, nel 1987. Oggi vive e lavora in Italia.
La sua ricerca nasce dall’incontro tra persone, territorio e memoria. Attraverso la fotografia documentaria e il reportage osserva il reale con uno sguardo diretto e discreto, cercando nelle immagini ciò che spesso accade lontano dalla scena: un gesto, uno sguardo, una relazione, una traccia del tempo.
Per Joseph, fotografare non è un esercizio di stile, ma un atto di fiducia. Significa esserci senza invadere, osservare senza modificare, lasciare che le cose accadano. Predilige la luce naturale, la spontaneità e l’imperfezione del momento, perché è proprio lì che riconosce la verità di una storia.
Nel corso degli anni ha sviluppato progetti dedicati ai territori, alle comunità e alla memoria dei luoghi, con particolare attenzione alle aree interne e ai piccoli borghi dell’Appennino abruzzese. Il suo lavoro è una ricerca sulle persone e sui luoghi che li abitano, sulle trasformazioni del paesaggio e sulle tracce lasciate dal tempo.
Accanto alla fotografia documentaria e al reportage, lavora nella fotografia di eventi e matrimoni, mantenendo lo stesso approccio: raccontare ciò che accade senza costruirlo, trasformando l’esperienza vissuta in una memoria visiva autentica.

Joseph Di Lello is a freelance photographer born in Colledimezzo, Abruzzo, in 1987. He is currently based and works in Italy.
His photographic practice is rooted in the intersection of people, place and memory. Through documentary photography and reportage, he observes reality with a direct yet discreet approach, looking for what often happens away from the centre of attention: a gesture, a glance, a relationship, a trace left by time.
For Joseph, photography is not an exercise in style, but an act of trust. It means being present without intruding, observing without altering, and allowing things to happen naturally. He favours natural light, spontaneity and the imperfections of the moment, because it is there that he finds the truth of a story.
Over the years, he has developed projects focused on territories, communities and the memory of places, with particular attention to rural areas and small villages across the Apennines of Abruzzo. His work explores the relationship between people and the places they inhabit, the transformation of landscapes, and the traces left behind by time.
Alongside documentary and reportage photography, he works in event and wedding photography, maintaining the same approach: documenting what happens without staging it, transforming lived experiences into authentic visual memories.
